    Hello Annette,

One easy way to add a Contact Form to this page is to copy and paste this shortcode on its own line on this Contact Information page that you have already created:

    [contact-form]

Once that Contact Form shortcode is added to this page, it will automatically show a contact form on this page when viewing this page, but you will not see it when editing this page (you will only see this shortcode when editing this page, but the contact form will be there; but only when viewing the page and not editing it).

    Good luck,

Another page that is easy to create is an Archives page, all you need to do is create a page, and then copy and paste the Archives Shortcode (https://en.support.wordpress.com/archives-shortcode/) on it:

    [archives]

This will create an archive index of all your posts in order from newest to oldest, and it will automatically update itself when you add and remove posts.

    • I am going to try that. John I am struggling with adding a calendar to my right hand column. I know it is a widget but, it is not allowing me to add it. I have tried several times….any suggestions?

I just tested adding the Calendar widget to my sidebar on my blog, and it worked; and I did this from the WP Admin (Classic Dashboard) (which is what I use most of the time instead of the New Dashboard) | Appearance | Widgets (here is a link to this location for your blog: https://nananettie1969.wordpress.com/wp-admin/widgets.php), I clicked on the Calendar widget, I made sure that Sidebar was checked, I clicked Add Widget, I dragged the widget in the order (position) that I wanted it to appear on my sidebar, I gave it a name, and then I clicked Save; and it worked.

        Good luck Annette,

That is the original (old) dashboard, I do not like the new one, and so I still use the old one most of the time.

They try to hide it but it can still be accessed manually if you save a bookmark to it or if you scroll down the New Dashboard and click WP Admin.

I am not sure what widget that is, so you will have to look through your list of widgets and find out which widget that is, and then you can either remove it or adjust the settings for that widget.

I will probably be the second widget in the list, but I could be wrong.

You can drag widgets around in the order that you want, and remember that each widget has their own settings that you can adjust so make sure that you adjust your widgets like you want them and make sure to name them all so that you will always know the name of each widget.

Yep, I see your archives page and your calendar widget, well done. 🙂

I use the WP Admin (Classic Dashboard) for almost everything, all my posts are made from that dashboard, and that dashboard has features and options that the New Dashboard does not have (like grammar check for posts, and many other things); but the New Dashboard does have a few things that the old one does not, but I still like and use the old dashboard usually.

I am glad that the old dashboard is still around, for now at least.

If those three WordPress icons are not a widget, then they are possibly part of a Social Links Menu (https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/social-links-menu/) if you added one as a Custom Menu, if so you will need to disable that Custom Menu on your theme.

Those three icons are linking to your three pages, if that is a Custom Menu, then you can add it to the Primary Menu instead of the Social Links Menu.

Here is a link to your menu settings in the WP Admin:

        https://nananettie1969.wordpress.com//wp-admin/nav-menus.php

Under Menu Settings | Theme Locations | Make sure that Primary Menu is checked to enable that menu for your theme and click Save Menu.

      • Ok, Back to confused. I will re read your suggestions soon and try and fix it. I do now that you mention it think that it is a menu issue. Reading blogs today and answering comments so I will prob do more work on the blog itself this weekend. I am sure I will have more questions for you my dear friend. Thank you again!

I was confused at first as well Annette because of how the Twenty Fifteen is a theme where the menu appears at the top of the sidebar, but this is probably easy.

My guess it that you have your Custom Menu set to show in the Primary Menu and in the Social Links Menu, and so all you need to do is uncheck Social Links Menu and click Save Menu and that second menu with icons will probably disappear.

      • Yeah has to be because I deleted and readded all my widgets and that one still appeared. Has to be a menu issue. Two questions. Please can you tell me again how to use that older dashboard? Second, now that I have the calendar how do I use it to show what days I do what?

        Hello Annette,

Here is a link to the Menu Settings in the older dashboard:

        https://nananettie1969.wordpress.com/wp-admin/nav-menus.php

Here is a link to the home page of the old dashboard (I recommend bookmarking this one, and you can use this link to access any part of the old Dashboard by looking at the menu on the left side and clicking on what you are looking for:

        https://nananettie1969.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php

The calendar widget has no settings other than having the option to name it, when someone clicks on a day it will take them to a page with all of the posts that you made on that day, and that is all that this widget does:

Great Annette, there are many things there so take your time, and make sure to use the WordPress.com Support Docs (https://en.support.wordpress.com/) to look up information on anything that you do not understand.

Eventually it will be worth it in my opinion, once you have explored and looked up everything, and then adjust and update your settings to your liking. 😉

I was overwhelmed by the dashboard at first but I slowly explored everything a little each day, I used the Support Docs to look up more information on things that I did not understand, I asked other bloggers for help when I could not find something in the Support Docs, and eventually it became easy and familiar. 🙂
